Project stages
Every Jomo project moves through a defined set of phases. Here's what happens at each one and who needs to take action.
Ideation
CreatorThe starting point. Create a project, publish posts to build a community, and let interested people follow for updates. No funding yet — this is about finding your audience and proving demand.
Development
CreatorActive development is underway. Share files, run surveys, and keep followers in the loop. You can attach private files (prototype rules, design assets) and gate access by follower status.
Application
Creator → JomoSubmit a funding application: define your reward tiers (digital, physical, retailer), set your funding goal, upload your cost breakdown, and describe what the crowdfund page will say. The Jomo team reviews your application and either approves it, requests changes, or rejects it with feedback. You can resubmit after a rejection.
Funding
BackersYour crowdfund page is live. Backers choose a tier and save their payment method — no charge yet. The campaign runs until you close it. If the goal is met, the project advances. If not, all saved payment methods are discarded and nobody is charged — backers take no risk.
Production
Creator + JomoBackers are charged. Jomo releases an initial payout — enough to cover the creative work needed to finish the game: art, writing, editing, and final layout. The amount is determined by your approved cost breakdown. Keep backers updated with posts as the work progresses.
Printing
Creator + JomoOnce the game is fully complete and the files are press-ready, Jomo releases the remaining production funds — covering printing costs and transport to your distribution partner. The printing money sits in Jomo's account until you're actually ready to print, which gives backers a real safety net if a project runs into trouble.
Shipping
CreatorJomo emails physical-tier backers to collect their shipping addresses. Once addresses are in you can connect EasyPost or Shippo to create labels in bulk. Backers receive an automatic dispatch notification email when their order ships.
Complete
JomoAll physical orders are marked delivered and the creator has confirmed fulfilment. Jomo releases the final payout. The project page moves to a completed state and remains publicly accessible as a record of a successfully funded game.
